CONFINEMENT AND MANIPULATION OF ATOMS USING SHORT LASER-PULSES

[摘要] The force resulting from a position-dependent sequence of interactions with short counter-propagating pi-pulses of laser radiation can propel atoms towards the small region where the pulses overlap. The optical trap thus formed may be combined with Doppler-cooling laser beams.
