Motion structures extend their reach

[摘要] Motion structures are assemblies of resistant bodies connected by movable joints. Unlike conventional structures, they are designed to contain internal mobilities that allow large shape transformations to satisfy practical requirements. Their applications range from satellite solar panels and space antennas to shelters, exhibition stands, and medical implants. We introduce the characteristics of motion structures, the principles used to create such structures, and their applications. This brief survey is based on the latest research in this thriving field.
