Cooperative generation of dislocation loops and the brittle-to-ductile transition

[摘要] A mechanism of cooperative generation of dislocation loops above a critical temperature in loaded solids is described. We model the massive dislocation activity which commences near the crack tip at the brittle-to-ductile transition temperature in terms of this mechanism and show that it can explain the main features of the transition.
