Report from the Executive Committee Meeting in Bratislava, 17–19th March 2017

[摘要] This Spring, the Executive Committee (EC) of the EMSconvened at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, on the kind invitation of the Slovakian Mathematical Society. This meeting was the first sitting of thenew committee, following elections at the Council inBerlin in Summer 2016. On Friday evening, the committee was welcomed by Martin Kalina, President ofthe Slovak Mathematical Society, who told us about hissociety. Established in 1969, the society is the mathematical branch of the Union of Slovak Mathematicians andPhysicists, and welcomes both university mathematiciansand maths teachers at primary and secondary level. Itsactivities include running Olympiads and summer/wintercamps in the mountains for school pupils, competitionsand events for undergraduate students, seminars forteachers, and domestic & international scientific conferences for researchers. It publishes the journal Horizonsof Mathematics, Physics and Informatics.
