Mathematics AND Music? Personal Views on a Difficult Relationship

Frankly, I have always had bigtroubles with the topic “Mathematics AND Music”,namely when mathematics and music are broughttogether, are set in relation to each other, or when onemerely searches for connections between them. Yes, itis correct, tones and intervals obey strict mathematicalrules, due to laws of physics; but does this establish a connection between mathematics and music? Yes, it is alsotrue that Johann Sebastian Bach frequently wove numbers into his compositions.
