Can patients with urticaria be contagious to COVID-19? a new disguise: a hypothesis from an Egyptian experience
[摘要] Urticaria (hives) has been successfully treated withdual-histamine receptor blockade since the 1970s[1]. A few reports have begun to demonstrate thatdiarrhea can be treated similarly [2,3]. COVID-19 hasbeen associated with urticaria as well as diarrhea [4].This shows that the histamine receptor is a commonbrick in the three conditions. Furthermore, famotidine, when used in COVID-19-infected patients, had areduced risk of intubation and death. In contrast, proton pump inhibitors did not provide any benefits[5]. Ennis and Tiligada [6] have surveyed many studiesthat highlight that montelukast, fexofenadine, cetirizine, and other asthma medication affect theintracellular proteases related to viral replication, thus can be used in COVID-19 treatment as well.
