Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms syndrome with a nonspecific petechial rash in a child taking sulfasalazine

[摘要] A 12-year-old boy with a history of juvenile onsetspondyloarthropathy had been receiving oralsulfasalazine (750 mg daily) 1 month ago. Hepresented to the Department of Dermatology of theZA Bashlyaeva Children’s Clinical Hospital inMoscow complaining of high-grade fever (up to38.5°C), headache, fatigue, and joint pain. Then, hedeveloped a generalized erythematous polymorphicand petechial non-pruritus rash over almost all of histrunk and extremities (Fig. 1), followed by facial edemaand exfoliative diffuse scaling (Fig. 2). The mucosa ofthe mouth, conjunctiva, and genitalia were spared, andthere were no nail or hair changes.
