Message from the editor-in-chief

[摘要] It is my privilege to address you as the Editor-in-Chief of Nuclear Fusion, at the end of avery important year for fusion research and development.Several major components have been delivered to the ITER construction site, whereassembly has started. The revised action plan for the project has been approved and theschedule for the first experiments is now fixed. This now represents the reference point forthe accompanying programs around the world, whose aim is maximize ITER’s chances ofsuccess, as well as for the developments in view of DEMO, the step that will prove that acommercial deployment of fusion energy is possible. The magnetic fusion community andour Editorial Board are in fact considering compiling a special issue dedicated to the revisedphysics basis of ITER, possibly with implications for DEMO.
