Face Recognition Using Wavelet Transforms

[摘要] Face is one of the most acceptable biometrics because it is one of the most common methods of identification which humans use in their visual interaction. In this paper a novel descriptor for face recognition is proposed by using Wavelet transform. Wavelets are mathematical functions that cut up data into different frequency components, and then study each component with a resolution matched to its scale. They have advantages over traditional Fourier methods in analyzing physical situations when the signal contains discontinuities and sharp spikes.Face images using a NN classifier is presented. Recognition rate of 98% is achieved.
