Anonymity in anonymized peer review is incompatible with preprints

[摘要] It can now be argued that preprints, followingan initial phase of some academic resistanceand hesitation, have become established asa recognized model of academic publishingpreceding traditional peer review. Inpreprints, authors’ identities are known;that is, there is no anonymization. Theanonymized peer review process employedby journals, typically known as single- ordouble-blind peer review, is now known assingle- or double-anonymized peer review.1In traditional peer review, the identity ofauthors is known to the reviewers, whereasthe identities of peer reviewers are unknownto the authors. In anonymized peer review,the identity of authors is unknown to thereviewers, and vice versa.
