The Effect of Prenatal Yoga on Birth Labor Duration and Pain: A Meta Analysis
[摘要] Background: Increased psychological burdenduring pregnancy can cause problems with thequality of the fetus and cause complications inpregnancy. The lack of knowledge about laborpain management and the mother's perceptionof prolonged labor makes the mother experience an increase in the psychological burdenduring pregnancy. One alternative therapyneeded in dealing with a happy pregnancy andminimal trauma delivery is to do prenatal yoga.The purpose of this study was to estimate themagnitude of the effect of prenatal yoga on theduration of labor and labor pain.Subjects and Method: This study uses asystematic review and meta-analysis researchdesign. The time of the selected test results isbetween 2005 to 2021. The search for articles iscarried out for 1 month. Research data wassearched from databases: PubMed, ScienceDirect, Springer Link, Google Scholar, Chocrance Library. The inclusion criteria in thisstudy were full text articles in English, thestudy design used a randomized controlledtrial. Article searches were carried out using thePICO model. The population in this study werepregnant women, the intervention was in theform of prenatal yoga, comparison was withoutprenatal yoga, and the outcomes were laborduration and labor pain. Data processing iscarried out using the Review Manager (RevMan5.3) by calculating the standardized mean difference to determine the combined researchmodel and form the final result of the metaanalysis.Results: There are 9 articles in the study of theeffect of prenatal yoga on the duration of laborand there are 5 articles on labor pain. The studyshowed that prenatal yoga significantly reducedlabor duration (SMD= 0.88; 86% CI -1.31 to -0.44 p<0.001). Prenatal yoga can also reducelabor pain (SMD = 0.88; 77% CI -1.44 to -0.33p = 0.002).Conclusion: Prenatal yoga can reduce laborduration and reduce labor pain.
