Relationship Between Duration of Breastfeeding and Nutritional Status and KPSP
[摘要] Background: Breast milk is one of the factorsthat can affect growth and development. WHOis promoted exclusive breastfeeding and alsoencourages mother to raise breastfeeding untilthe children reach 2 year of age. This study wasaimed to examine the relationships between theduration of breastfeeding, child nutritionalstatus and development.Subjects and Method: This was an analyticobservational study with a cross sectionaldesign. The study was conducted in threehealth centers, in Makassar, South Sulawesi,Indonesia, from December 2019 to January2020. A total of 200 mothers with childrenaged 1-3 years old were selected by purposivesampling. The dependent variables were childnutritional status and child development. Theindependent variable was duration of breastfeeding. Child development was measuredusing developmental pre-screening questionnaire. The other variables were collected byquestionnaire. The relationships between variables were analyzed by Pearson correlation.Results: Duration of breastfeeding was notassociated with child nutritional status (r= -0.01; p= 0.970). Duration of breastfeedingincreased child development, but it was statistically not significant (r= 0.04; p= 0.550).Conclusion: Duration of breastfeeding is notassociated with child nutritional status. Itincreases child development, but it is statistically not significant.
