Future registry research: database linkage in Trauma and Orthopaedics

[摘要] Trauma and Orthopaedics has long beenestablished as a leader in the collectionand analysis of high-quality patient data forthe purposes of quality improvement andresearch. The scale and scope of registry dataacross several patient groups and proceduresare the envy of colleagues around the world.The ability to link these data to other routinelyheld clinical information (e.g. patient healthrecords held within the Hospital EpisodeStatistics (HES) data warehouse) allows usto enrich these data with important information that is not present in the original database, and would otherwise be a substantialburden to collect for every patient.
