Infographic: Total hip arthroplasty in early osteoarthritis: picking your winners
[摘要] The outcomes following total hip arthroplasty(THA) in patients with early osteoarthritis (OA)are less predictable than in severe disease.1-4 Wewanted to assess the factors that are associated withsuccessful outcome. We compared 70 patients with early OA (Kellgrenand Lawrence (KL) grades 0 to 2) with 200 patientswith advanced OA (KL grades 3 and 4). Oxford HipScores (OHS),5,6 EuroQol five-dimension questionnaire (EQ-5D),7 and EuroQol-visual analogue scale(EQ-VAS)8 scores were analyzed preoperativelyand one year postoperatively. A subgroup analysiswas performed for those with early OA to identifyfactors (clinical and radiological) associated with asuccessful THA – defined as a postoperative OHS ≥42; the so-called ‘patient-acceptable symptomstate’.
