The complexity of decision-making for total hip arthroplasty in early osteoarthritis
[摘要] Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a tried-andtested treatment for patients with severe hiposteoarthritis (OA) refractory to nonoperative treatments. Most orthopaedic surgeonswould agree that radiological severity, physical examination findings, and symptomseverity are major determining factors ofwhether to proceed with THA.1 Nevertheless, there is a body of contradictory evidenceon the role of radiological OA severity inpredicting outcomes following surgery, anda select group of patients with apparentlysevere hip symptoms but relatively normalradiographs undergo THA with mixedoutcomes.
