Predicted waiting times for orthopaedic surgery: an urgent need to address the deficit in capacity
[摘要] Cessation of routine surgical activityduring the COVID-19 pandemic has led toa substantial backlog of patients waitingfor orthopaedic surgery, with an associatedsubstantial deterioration in surgical waitingtimes.1,2Prolonged waits for certain orthopaedicprocedures can have a major negativeimpact on patient health.3 This occurs interms of deterioration in quality of life whileawaiting surgery, as well as potential negative connotations for postoperative recoveryand longer-term health in addition toreduced independence and increased socialcare needs.
