The comeback of immunoregulatory receptors on memory and aging CD8+ T cells: The wisdom of youth
[摘要] The expression of immunoregulatory proteins at the surface of T lymphocytes follows the dynamics of their activation and differentiation steps and continuously changes during their lifespan from their youth, when they are called recent thymic emigrant, through to their maturation and terminal differentiation. The most known example concerns the alternative splicing of CD45, a protein tyrosine phosphatase regulating src-family kinases expressed on all T cells. The CD45RA isoform is typically expressed on young (naïve) T cells, it is lost and leaves the place to the CD45RO isoform on adult cells upon activation and differentiation in memory cells, and gets back in late maturation stages, being re-expressed in both CD4 and CD8 as they change from central/effector memory to effector cells.
