[摘要] At the end of 2014, there were approximately 81.2 million people living in Germany, 22.2 million were aged > 60 years. Between 1990 and 2014, the number of people in Germany aged 65 years and over rose by approximately 5.2 million to 17.1 million representing an increase of 43%. At the same time, the total population grew by only 1.8%. In 2014, just over 4.5 million people in Germany were at least 80 years old. Their number will continue to grow in the coming decades and will reach approximately 9.9 million in 2050. This corresponds to a population share of 13% (Fig. 1).
