Hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF): how to improve osseointegration in hip arthroplasty secondary to avascular necrosis in sickle cell disease
[摘要] Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head remains a common complication in sickle cell disease (SCD) patients, and is frequently bilateral (Fig. 1).1 Total hip replacement (THR) surgery is often necessary to treat the degeneration which results from AVN.2 However, it has been noted that the failure rate of this procedure in SCD patients is relatively high and the failure of osseointegration has been indicated as a major underlying reason.
