Pigmented villonodular synovitis of the hip
[摘要] Pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS) is a rare disease that can affect any joint, bursa or tendon sheath. It is characterised by a villous or nodular hyperplasia of the synovium. It was first described in 1852 by Chassaignac,1 but it is to Jaffe that we owe the name of villonodular synovitis (1941).2 It is defined by a proliferation of the synovial membrane which may affect the joints, testicles or tendons.
