Commentary: Women congenital cardiac surgeons: Affirming the few

[摘要] The recent national survey of practicing congenital heart surgeons regarding gender1 adds to the accruing literature documenting the challenges that many women face in cardiothoracic surgery, in this case specifically congenital cardiac surgery. Of the 275 practicing congenital surgeons, 18 were women (6.5%), and 17 completed the survey. The demographics of those who responded were similar between the 2 genders, including years in practice. The results raise awareness of areas that need improvement.
