Expected compressive strength in precast, prestressed concrete design: Review and discussion of...
[摘要] Concrete production involves a combination oftools, materials, methods, and labor to produce ameasurable output; therefore, statistical variabilityis expected in concrete strength parameters. To safeguardagainst failure, it is essential that structural designs accountfor concrete strength uncertainty to ensure a sufficient levelof structural reliability.1 American Concrete Institute (ACI)guidance1,2 helps concrete producers target a required concrete strength during mixture proportioning to ensure thatthe average measured concrete strength meets or exceedsthe specified strength by acceptable, statistically determinedmargins. Appropriate characterization of concrete strength isalso critical for designers to accurately predict the deformational behavior of reinforced and prestressed concreteelements. In the precast, prestressed concrete industry, accurate predictions of deflections (such as camber [Fig. 1]) atvarious ages are required to ensure proper girder fit, properfunction, and timely installation.
