Crowned dens syndrome: Caution about asymptomatic calcification

[摘要] An 88-year-old Japanese man in a psychiatric hospital because of progressive Alzheimer disease developed fever, headache, and posterior neck pain. The symptoms persisted despite antibiotic therapy with 500 mg/day of oral levofloxacin and 500 mg/day of intravenous meropenem. He was transported to our emergency department 42 days after the onset of symptoms.
