A Response and Discussion with Respect to Gulcelik’s Study in Oncoplastic Level II Surgical Techniques for Breast Cancer Treatment

[摘要] We have read with great interest the research articleentitled “Oncoplastic Level II Surgical Techniques forBreast Cancer Treatment: Long-Term Outcomes” byGulcelik et al. [1], published in Breast Care (2022;17:24–30). We want to congratulate the authors on this successful research article, and make some contributions.This research article aimed to document the level IItechniques performed over 10 years in two tertiary breastoncology centers and present the long-term survival results. The authors conclude that level II oncoplastic breastsurgery techniques have low reoperation and complication rates and a high rate of breast protection with adequate long-term local control. These points are very important when dealing with conservative breast surgeries,which have to be safe procedures. In this sense, it has beenwidely described in the literature that the safety of oncoplastic techniques allows the surgeon to make a wider excision of the breast tumor with supposed superior cosmetic results than standard breast-conserving surgery.
