Primary Malignant Melanoma of Breast: A Rare Entity
[摘要] Introduction: Melanoma is a malignant disease usually arising in the skin. The breast can be a site of both primary malignant melanomas arising from breast parenchyma and overlying skin or metastatic lesions from other locations. Primary non-cutaneous breast melanomas are very rare. Case Report: A 63 year old female presented with history of mass in the left breast and with an ulcer in skin over the left breast mass associated with discharge and bleeding. On local examination, mass was palpable in upper outer quadrant of left breast with overlying ulcer and a mobile axillary node. Patient underwent left modified radical mastectomy along with left axillary clearance. Histopathology and immunohistochemistry (IHC) revealed primary malignant melanoma of breast. Conclusion: Primary malignant melanoma of breast is a very rare tumor. Histology alone can be often misleading. IHC is needed for confirmation of diagnosis. Rare tumors like these are needed to be kept in mind before starting any therapy.
