Management of Post Traumatic Wounds using Indigenously Developed Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Device

[摘要] Background: Non-healing wounds are difficult to treat and pose a major challenge to health care facilities due to increased length of hospital stay. There are numerous therapeutic options for treating these hard to heal wounds, with varying degrees of success. Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) or vacuum assisted closure (VAC) is an effective therapeutic intervention to accelerate wound healing in patients with diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, and complex traumatic injuries. Methods & Procedures: In this case series, the therapeutic efficacy of an NPWT device was evaluated in patients with difficult non-healing wounds. The results show that the NPWT system accelerated the wound healing in these complex and difficult-to-heal wounds for an improved healing outcome. Conclusion: The NPWT system is an efficient therapeutic option that can be used to reduce the healing time and associated wound infections for better treatment outcomes.
