Advances in the Cognitive Science and Their Implications for ABFM Knowledge Assessment

[摘要] Since the founding of American Board of FamilyPractice (ABFP) in 1969, there have been majoradvances in the cognitive sciences of learning,memory retention, and problem solving. Howshould these insights shape knowledge assessmentin ABFM’s Board certification portfolio? To helpanswer this question, ABFM, the American Boardof Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the AmericanBoard of Medical Specialties (ABMS) commissioned an independent review of the relevant literature related to Board Certification, providingsupport with a commitment to relinquish any editorial control.
