Mucinous Cystic Neoplasm of the Liver- Three Rare Cases with Different Clinical Impressions
[摘要] Mucinous Cystic Neoplasm of the Liver (MCN-L)is a rare cystic epithelial tumour that does notcommunicate with bile ducts and comprisingovarian-type mesenchymal stroma andmucinous epithelium. Though it is a benigntumour it may be associated with invasivecarcinoma. Therefore, complete surgical excisionand extensive sampling is important to preventrecurrence and detect associated malignancy. Itsrarity precludes its recognition as it can mimicother cystic liver lesions. Awareness of this rareentity is essential as it lacks well-definedcharacteristics and poses a considerablediagnostic challenge preoperatively. Here wepresent three cases of MCN-L with differentclinical impressions preoperatively. All threewere women who presented with abdominalpain or discomfort and were found to have cysticlesions in the liver which subsequentlyunderwent excision. The preoperative diagnoseswere hydaticd cyst, hepatic abscess and simpleliver cyst in case 1 ,2 and 3 respectively.Histopathology of all three cysts were MCN-Lwith no high grade dysplasia or invasivecarcinoma.
