Quality assurance in immunohistochemistry for better patient care

[摘要] Pathologists are traditionally considereddiagnosticians. A histopathologist makes adiagnosis based on morphological features andprovides information on the aetiology andprognosis of a lesion for management. Thisrole has expanded over the decades especiallywith the advent of new biomarkers bothimmunohistochemical and molecular whichhave a major role to play in the era of PrecisionMedicine. The term ‘Precision Medicine’replaces the term personalized medicine andrefers to the tailoring of treatment to theindividual characteristics of each patient byclassifying them into subpopulations. Thisapproach to medicine is emerging as thehealthcare approach of tomorrow and haveimportant implications for the entirehealthcare system, including medicallaboratories, expanding our landscape.
