The 100 th anniversary is coming: a message from the president

[摘要] It is a great honor for me to write this message as Presi‐ dent of the Japan Endocrine Society (JES) as the 100th anniversary of the JES approaches. The JES was founded in 1925, when the official journal “Naibunpigaku Zasshi” was first published. The first annual meeting of the JES was held in Kyoto and chaired by Professor Kanji Tsuji in 1927, which makes the JES the second oldest society in the field of endocrinology. The first issue of English official journal “Endocrinologia Japonica” was pub‐ lished in 1954, and then renamed as “Endocrine Journal” in 1993. The number of members of the JES has been increasing, as shown in Fig. 1, and as of June 2022, it was 9,429, which indicates that the JES is the second largest society, following the Endocrine Society in the US, which was founded in 1922. Therefore, we should be proud of the long history of the JES and how it con‐ tinues to flourish.
