Yonder: HFpEF, amputees, professional identity formation, and leadership training

[摘要] HFpEF. Heart failure with preservedejection fraction (HFpEF), which is now thepreferred term for what was once called‘diastolic failure’, is common, difficult todiagnose, and carries a poor prognosis. Itis, therefore, appropriate that it should bethe focus of much recent research, includinga recent study from Keele that focused onGPs’ perspectives of HFpEF diagnosis andmanagement.1 Participants reported thatmaking and communicating the diagnosis ofHFpEF to patients was challenging becauseof limitations in their own understanding, thecomplexity of patients with multimorbidity,and a lack of clarity in language about HFpEF.GPs valued input from specialist care,but organisational barriers were reported,including poor communication betweenprimary and specialist care. Thesechallenges were greater still when managingpeople from BAME communities because ofcultural and language differences.
