Demand is outstripping capacity, witha decade of chronic health and social careunderfunding, an ageing population, and asqueezed workforce driving the NHS to crisispoint. Pressures on the NHS are ‘intolerableand unsustainable’ according to Phil Banfield,chair of the British Medical AssociationCouncil.
