The tortuous path of progress
[摘要] Mine was a two-partner practice thatexperienced a Care Quality Commission(CQC) inspection in March 2019, just prior tothe COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, we werefound to be good. We never managed to getthe team party though as the first lockdownarrived even before we had our official result. The following autumn my partner wasforced to retire for reasons related toCOVID-19, leaving us with no prospect offinding a replacement in the time. This left mesingle-handed from October 2020, though Iwas lucky to land excellent salaried help.I was required to apply to the CQC tore-register as well as undergo a review byour CCG of whether to allow me to retain thepractice contract at all: being single-handedis considered an automatic risk these days.As a practice under ‘new’ ownership, wereceived a further inspection from CQC inNovember 2021, conducted remotely. Wewere found again to be good.
