From Sink to Shelf: Organic Solvents

[摘要] One of the common physical chemistry experiments carried out in undergraduate programs is the determination of the partition coefficient (Ko) in which a solute is distributed be­tween organic and aqueous layers. After the experiment, the used-up organic layer and stock organic layer are discarded without proper measure, which poses a serious threat to our environment. In this article, we propose a simple, cost-effective and environment-friendly method to recycle the organic sol­vent used during the experiment.
