Applying the principles of health technology assessments to intubation boxes for patients with COVID-19

[摘要] While global efforts are underway to reducetransmission of COVID-19 infection with ashortage of personal protective equipment(PPE), intubation boxes have become apopular new equipment for airway management.1 Intubation boxes are essentiallybarrier enclosures composed of transparentcomponents meant to contain the dropletand aerosols during intubation and preventthem from being dispersed to the environment and healthcare worker (HCW).1Preliminary reports have shown intubationboxes to be effective in reducing droplets,more than aerosol exposure, to the HCWduring laryngoscopy.1–3 Consequently, theseintubation boxes are being mass producedand implemented in both academic andcommunity hospitals worldwide.
