Journey to zero serious bacterial prosthetic joint infection

[摘要] Deep infections following primary jointreplacement cause great suffering to patientsand have high treatment costs.1 In the generalpopulation, and especially in those that haverecent contact with healthcare facilities,the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus often colonise the skin and the upper airways withoutcausing disease. However, indolent in theskin, the same bacteria may cause devastatinginfection associated with implant devices andnot least in orthopaedic surgery.
