Synthesis of high surface area ?- Al2O3 from Industrial Waste Can and its use for the adsorption of metals: Cd(II), Pb(II).
[摘要] Aluminium oxide is an important chemical due to its many valuable properties such as hardware resistance ,good thermal conductivity ,high strength and stiffiness . Aluminium oxide is commonly refferedto as alumina . In the present study ,several types of alumina were synthesized from sodium aluminate (NaAlO )2 by precipitation with sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and subsequently calcinations at 500°C to obtain γ – Al2O3 .The variousγ – Al2O3synthesized were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) ,adsorption –desorption of N2 (SBET) . XRDrevealed that distinct phases of Al2O3were formed during thermal treatment . Moreover ,it was observed thatconditions of synthesis (pH , aging time and temperature ) strongly affect the physicochemical properties of the2 -1 alumina . Ahigh surface area alumina (370 m .g ) was synthesized under mild conditions, from inexpensive rawmaterials . These aluminas were tested for the adsorption ofCd (II) and Pb (II) from aqueous solution at toxic metal concentrations, and isotherms were determined .
