Promethazine As Novel Reagent For Estimation Of Iodate Ion In Table Salt Samples.

[摘要] A simple, rapid and accurate spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determinationof iodate ion using promethazine. The proposed method reports the reaction of iodate ionwith promethazinein acidicmediumto form a red colored product with an absorption maximum at 515 nm.Beer’s Law was4 -1 -1 obeyed in the range of 0.2-2.8µg/ml with molar absorptive of 7.63x10 L.mol. .cm .The relative standarddeviation of the method was less than 1.5% and accuracy (average recovery ) was 100±1.1%. The proposedmethod has been successfully applied for the determination of iodate ion in table salt samples.
