The perceived stress as a common problem among thedisplaced and migrant students has been researched extensively. An exploratory research was conducted inthe University of Northern Philippines, Vigan city to study the impact of stress on its international students andthe means to lead them out of stress and learn to adapt themselves to their life abroad. The participants of thestudy were 315 international students selected as stratified random samples. A customised questionnaire wasused to elicit the data from the participants. The study revealed the influence of peers, homesickness, financialdifficulties and academic life as the most commonly perceived stressors among the international students. Ona high average, problem focused coping strategies were used as a defensive mechanism by the sophomorestudents. This study identified an association between perceived stress and adopted coping styles that itsuggests teaching students to use desirable coping strategies may reduce stress among them.
