A Comparative Study Of Cardiovascular Parasympathetic Functions During Different Phases Of Menstrual Cycle In Young Healthy Females.
[摘要] Various studies conducted so far for the evaluation of effect of menstrual cycle on cardiovascularparasympathetic functions have come up with inconsistent results. The high incidence of ischemic heartdisease during menopause suggests a close association between ovarian hormone levels and thecardiovascular system. Recent studies suggest that estrogen affects several vital organ systems, including the cardiovascular system and autonomic nervous system, and contributes to themaintenance of an adequate sympathovagal balance. So assessment of autonomic functions duringdifferent phases of menstrual cycle is an essential element of clinical examination. Hence, the present studywas planned to compare the changes in cardiovascular parasympathetic functions with pre and postst menstrual phases of menstrual cycle in 1 year MBBS students. This was a prospective observational studyst with the primary data that includes 40 healthy volunteer 1 year MBBS students of Government MedicalCollege, Shivpuri. For all the subjects’ anthropometric data was collected and cardiovascularparasympathetic functions were assessed by recording electrocardiogram in lead II. Descriptive statisticswasdone by using IBM SPSS (Software Package used for Statistical Analysis) software version 20.0 andstatistical analysis was carried out separately in premenstrual and postmenstrual phases by applying“unpaired t test”.The study concludes that no any significant impact is exerted on cardiovascularautonomic functions during the menstrual cycle.
