Future directions to address sleep health disparity among Asian American immigrants
[摘要] Over the past decade, sleep research on racial and ethnic minority groups has been growing rapidly. Unfortunately, sleephealth among Asian Americans remains understudied, particularly among those who are immigrants. Lee et al.’s study inthis issue [1] was the first to investigate self-reported sleep ina sample of Korean and Chinese immigrants aged 50–75 years. They found that greater acculturative stress was associated withpoorer subjective sleep disturbances and shorter perceived sleepduration among these Asian immigrant subgroups. Given theknown associations of poor sleep quality and short sleep duration with poor health and reduced longevity [2], understandinghow acculturative stress may impact sleep in immigrant communities is important.
