Virtual care not a replacement for continuity
[摘要] In Dr Nicholas Pimlott’s editorial in the January issue,1I believe the resolution that most clinical care canbe delivered most efficiently virtually should not havebeen supported. Most clinical care can be deliveredmost efficiently via the telephone, not by audiovisualmeans. Virtual care should be an adjunct to in-personcare. I am a firm believer that continuity of care doesenhance clinical quality. Virtual care via audiovisualmeans, just like care via telephone, e-mail, texting, etc,is a technological tool that family physicians shoulduse to improve access and communication with theirpatients, which will support continuity.
