Misdiagnosis of breast cancer after augmentation injection of stromal vascular fraction gel: a case description
[摘要] Stromal vascular fraction gel (SVF-gel) is an adiposetissue-derived product and an autologous injectablefiller that contains condensed adipose tissue extracellularmatrix (ECM) fibers, adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs),and vascular endothelial cells (1). The ADSCs andvascular-related growth factors promote angiogenesisand adipocyte differentiation and prevent cell apoptosis, therefore, they can improve the survival rate of the graftrecipient area (2-4). Initially, SVF-gel was frequentlyused in facial rejuvenation (5); later it was used for breastreconstruction to maintain the fat volume and preventreabsorption (6). Studies from various countries haveshown that augmentation mammaplasty patients do notbear an increased risk of breast cancer (7,8). However, reports show that breast augmentation can influence breastcancer diagnosis by decreasing the sensitivity of imagingtechniques (i.e., mammography) (9,10). Several breastcancer cases have been reported after breast implants, butthere are no reports on SVF-gel as the material in theaugmentation injection (11-17).
