Systematics and distribution of the genus Phrynocephalus Kaup, 1825 (Sauria: Agamidae) in the Iranian plateau: A Review

[摘要] There are numerous published data related to taxonomic structure and distribution of one of the most diverse and taxonomically confusing Iranian lizards, the genus phrynocephalus . The genus Phrynocephalus has a close relationship with genera Stellagama, Paralaudakia and Laudakia. There are about 10-12 species of this monophyletic genus in desert regions of Iran. The aim of this study is to provide a review of taxonomic changes as well as distribution plus a brief comparison of the Iranian Plateau phrynocephalus species.
