First report on observation of a male-male agonistic behavior in a long-legged sac spider, Cheiracanthium eutittha (Araneae: Cheiracanthidae)

[摘要] This paper describes field-based observations of male-male agonistic behavior in a longlegged sac spider Cheiracanthium eutittha (Araneae:Cheiracanthidae). Males of the species exhibited acharacteristic agonistic behavior, where two maleshung from leaves with a dragline, with all of their longlegs entangled with each other and pushed each other’sbody aggressively. To the best of my knowledge, thisis the first video-based report of male-male agonisticbehavior associated with usage of elongated legs in thisspider family.
