Forensic professionals, who are expected to be objective, cannot always relate to their subjects. Objectivity, untempered by empathy, can be a barrier to interpreting the worlds of criminals, victims, and those who feel wronged. Narrow-mindedness can lead to confirmation bias, thus reinforcing prejudice.
