Impact of Cilostazol on the Balloon Angioplasty for Infrapopliteal Artery Disease in Patients with Lower Limb Ischemia admitted to Vascular Surgery Ward of Ahwaz Golestan Hospital, Ahwaz City, Iran
[摘要] Background and Objectives The study aimed to evaluate cilostazol's effects on balloon angioplasty forinfrapopliteal artery disease.Subjects and Methods This randomized controlled clinical trial study was performed on 50 patients undergoingbelow-the-knee balloon angioplasty. The patients were randomly assigned into two groups:Plavix alone (Group A) and Plavix and cilostazol (Group B). During the 3 months, limb salvage, need forendovascular re-treatment, improvement of clinical symptoms, and incidence of adverse effects werecompared between the two groups. Results There was no significant difference between the two groups regarding demographic and clinicalcharacteristics (P >0.05). Significant improvements in symptoms were observed in group B. The improvementswere seen in the rest pain and intermittent claudication within 3 months after treatment(P 0.05). None of the patients had reported heart failurewithin three months of treatment. Conclusion Although cilostazol administration after below-the-knee balloon angioplasty in patients withlower limb ischemia has a positive effect on improving symptoms such as rest pain and intermittentclaudication, it did not show a positive effect on limb salvage, ischemic wound healing, and need forre-intervention. This study also showed no significant difference in cilostazol users with cardiac complicationsand gastrointestinal bleeding.
