DIGOXIN - A NEUROHORMONAL MODULATOR IN HEART-FAILURE

[摘要] Experimental and recent clinical data suggest that digitalis glycosides, in addition to their inotropic effects, have potentially beneficial modulating effects on the excessive neuroendocrine activation that is present in the heart failure state. To date, the demonstration of this neuroendocrine action of digitalis glycosides in humans has been limited only to acute studies. Whether or not chronic administration of digoxin produces significant and sustained effects upon neuroendocrine systems in heart failure patients remains to be investigated.
