[摘要] The number of cases of Acinetobacter baumannii infection has rapidly risen. Outbreaks have been reported in a number of hospitals and infection can prove fatal to critically ill or immunocompromised patients. The bacterium can acquireresistance to antibiotics quickly and could possibly become more virulent. Outbreak measures have stressed the importance of using antibiotics sparingly.
