A trip of a lifetime

[摘要] Citizen science was pioneered by Earthwatch. Every year 4,200 people in 80 countries volunteer to get involved in science projects. The range of projects iswide and covers counting butterflies in Vietnam to measuring methane in termite hills in Namibia and to studies of gull population in New England. Volunteers bring many and varied skills to these projects and their work is acknowledged by Earthwatch scientists in their papers. Some volunteers have gone on to take science degrees after their work in the field.
